In a society that continues to provide opportunities and platforms to perpetrators of discriminatory and often violent cultures, survivors are frequently silenced, dismissed, and ignored. Our mission is to guide survivors as they empower themselves to create narratives surrounding their experiences. We aim to create a safe space for participants to workshop and develop a personal story with a credentialed victim advocate and an experienced writer and educator.
We seek to lift survivors up, to provide them an opportunity to tell whatever stories are important to them. We seek to support survivors in their journey towards recognizing that they are more than any one of their identities, that they are more than a statistic, and that they are more than their trauma.
We are survivors. We are more than a story.
Note about content: Our goal is to help you write whatever story it is that you want to put out into the world. That means that you will not be asked explicitly about your trauma, nor should you expect that all of the stories you will hear from other participants will be about their trauma.
Workshop Led by Lauren Weingarten and Andi Sauer. Andi Sauer is an educator with five years of experience teaching writing and literature. Andi is also a writer, a perpetual student, and a survivor.
